Dutchess Cruisers Car Club

dutchess cruisers ,dutchess county nyOver the years, I spent a lot of my time in the Hudson Valley going to various car shows and taking lots of pictures of all the great cars. During this time, I have come to know many of the car clubs. I have found though my travels that the most organized and friendliest car club is The Dutchess Cruisers. The Dutchess Cruisers hold their weekly car show at McDonald’s in Highland near the Poughkeepsie Bridge every Saturday. Besides having a DJ present at every show at least once a month, they have entertainment, usually a singer or band. The music they play varies from Country Music, Doo Wop, Rock ‘n Roll, to a Crooner. Besides the weekly cruise, The Dutchess Cruisers hold various car show events throughout the year. In Pawling, they hold the Healy Car Show, the Dubois Farms Car Show, and last, but not least, my favorite: The Beacon Day Show. The picture on the front page was the last picture I took at the last show of the car show season which was “Beacon Day.” This event was held by, promoted, and sponsored by The Dutchess Cruisers. It was a great way to end the year at this family and community oriented car show and it was an amazing way to end the season before we all go into hibernation and wait for the season to return. The Dutchess Cruisers are celebrating their 15th anniversary this year. Fifteen years, not only shows organization, but continued support from the surrounding people and community. Kudos on fifteen years of bringing car fun to everyone! The Dutchess Cruisers are also a charitable organization and over the years they have contributed to over two dozen charities through their car show by donating proceeds to animal shelters, the Veterans Administration, St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital, Toys for Tots, and various other charities and local causes as well. They help needy families not only during the holidays, but all year through. So to sum everything up, if you’re looking to join a car club, I recommend The Dutchess Cruisers. They’re always looking for new members, and you don’t even have to be from Dutchess County or even own a car. I keep looking for car dealerships near me. All you need is a love for cars and the desire to have a good time throughout the summer season. If you would like to go to a great car show and you’re looking for a fun day with food, music, cars, trophies, and 50/50 raffles, The Dutchess Cruisers put a show on every Monday on 9W in Highland at McDonald’s near the Poughkeepsie Bridge. If you want to get your kids to experience the car culture and continue the tradition of preserving these historic pieces of history, the right place to do it would be joining The Dutchess Cruisers. These are some of the reasons I consider The Dutchess Cruisers to be one of the best car clubs in the Hudson Valley Check out the schedule for their upcoming cruises. If you would like to hold a car show in your area or would like to perform solo or as a band at a cruise, you can find them on the web at http://www.dutchesscruisers.org. If you’re looking to do a fundraiser, start a car show or host an event in your area, give Ray a call at or email him @.

Hybrid Cars VS Diesel Powered Cars

Hybrid vehicles boast of an all-encompassing operational system. They operate by combining an electricity-run motor, a diesel engine and maximum-powered batteries. The battery gives off energy for the electric motor and recharges when it recaptures the energy that is usually lost when the car is lessening its acceleration or while it is coasting.

How Hybrid Cars Work

The distinction of the full hybrid from the mild variety is that the electric motor and the diesel engine can operate on its own. In most instances, the electric motor can function by itself in low speed, and once it picks up, the diesel engine automatically takes over. Both the motor and the engine can function together if the car is in hard acceleration.

This combined effort provides the car the power that it needs for that situation. Full hybrid cars can consume and build up electricity simultaneously. The full hybrid setup can be found in models such as the popular Toyota Prius, the Mercury Mariner Hybrid, and the Escape hybrid from Ford.

For instance, one can look at the way the Toyota Prius works. The Prius runs on a technology called the Hyrbid Synergy Drive, which involves a power split device to combine the energy of the electric motor and the gas engine. The HSD enables a effortless switching of power sources that the car driver would not notice in the slightest while driving.

Unlike the other mild hybrid types, the Prius can be operated by the electric motor alone powered by the battery pack. As a result, a motorist can drive silently for short amounts of time. The Honda hybrids on this level cannot function just by the electric motor.

While speeding up a highway, the Prius utilizes the diesel engine as its main operator, and can get assistance from the generator if needed. Then this hybrid car shuts off the gas engine automatically during stops. This contributes greatly in mileage improvement and produces less emission.

Diesel VS Hybrid

A good case in point is Ford’s hybrid version of the Escape SUV, which boasted of emitting less than a pound of smog substances for every 15,000 miles the vehicle runs. This is a great improvement considering that traditional diesel-powered light trucks emit around 105 pounds of smog pollutants for the same 15,000-mile distance. Even regular cars produce 67 pounds!

So really, there isn’t going to be much argument over the great savings a consumer can gain with a hybrid vehicles. Sure, it comes at a cost, but its long term gains truly outweigh the initial price shock. After, over time, when more people realize the merits of hybrid vehicles, supply will definitely go up and push prices down.

Environmentally-conscious individuals would find heaven with hybrid cars. However, since they are just being introduced in the market, they can come at quite an expense. With increased patronage, it is hoped that more hybrid cars will become accessible to everyone in the future.

Article Body:
DaimlerChrysler’s Dodge division has certainly been making a name for itself over the past decade. No longer in the shadow of Chrysler or a carbon copy of Plymouth, Dodge has its own vehicles stamped with its own unique personality. The Charger is Dodge’s latest hot model; what can Dodge do for an encore? Read on for all the exciting details!

Caliber – The compact Neon is dead and a replacement vehicle is waiting in the wings by the name of Caliber. Sporting Dodge’s signature crosshair grille, the Caliber resembles a Chrysler Pacifica but it is in the Chrysler PT Cruiser’s size range. This five door wagon-like vehicle features jacked up wheel arches and a sloped roofline that tapers off to a rear hatch spoiler. On demand all wheel drive is expected to be one of the car’s options. Built on a Mitsubishi Lancer platform, the Caliber has been planned to go toe-to-toe with the VW Golf and Mazda 3. The Caliber is expected to debut in early 2006 as a 2007 model.

Nitro – Dodge gets a small SUV, the Nitro which is a rebadged and slightly reworked Jeep Liberty. As is customary with all contemporary Dodges, the Nitro sports the Dodge crosshair grille and unique wheel arches. Everything else about the Nitro is expected to be virtually the same as the Liberty including engine and transmission choices. The Nitro is expected to debut late in 2006.

Charger Coupe – Okay, I am dreaming. So are a lot of other people who are just itching for Dodge to release a two door version of the awesome Charger. The word about Charger is this: half the people like the sedan and the other half are disappointed it wasn’t developed as a coupe. No confirmation has been made, but a coupe may show up in late 2007 joining with [not replacing] the current sedan.

Love Those Vans – Chrysler is nearing the end of the life cycle for the current crop of minivans which still outsells any competitor on the market. Stow ‘N Go has been such a popular hit that any redesign will be built around this nifty feature. Expect the newest rendition of the Caravan and the Chrysler Town and Country to show up some time in 2008.

So, there you have it. The division that at one time gave us the Aries K and Omni now features the Viper, Ram, Dakota, Durango, and a host of other exciting vehicles. Dodge fans are pinching themselves hoping that it isn’t all a dream. Well, it isn’t and the upcoming models promise to uphold Dodge’s new found place in The Chrysler Group.
